SHAH ALAM: Tanjung Karang PKR chief Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri has been discharged and acquitted by a Sessions Court here of a cheating charge involving the celebration of Pakatan Rakyat’s 100 days in office.
Judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh said in his ruling yesterday that the defence had successfully raised reasonable doubt in the case and ordered for Mohd Yahya’s discharge.
The 45-year-old former aide to Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was accused of misleading Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd chairman Datuk Abd Karim Munisar into giving him RM50,000 to organise the celebration.

Mohd Yahya was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code with committing the offence at Gardenia Coffee House in Quality Hotel here on June 4, 2008.

Mohd Yahya told reporters that he was relieved and grateful for the decision.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Roziza Sidek from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission appeared for the prosecution while Mohd Yahya was represented by lawyer Ahmad Nizam Hamid.
